NUJ Dundee Campaign

Cutbacks Crisis at D C Thomsons

Dundee-based publishers D C Thomsons have announced a major redundancy and restructuring project at its newspaper and magazine titles in Dundee.

Apart from mass redundancies among printers, the company wants to increase working hours for journalists and cut annual salaries, in some cases by over 25 per cent.

The NUJ has been inundated with membership applications from editorial staff at D C Thomsons and an action committee is being formed to co-ordinate a campaign to fight the cutbacks.

The union is needed more than ever before and NUJ officials are regularly in Dundee and regularly representing D C Thomson employees at grievance, disciplinary and appeal hearings with management.

The greater the membership, the stronger the union. That's why it's more important than ever to join.

The next meeting of NUJ Dundee is on Thursday 17th June 2010 at the Braes Pub, Perth Road, Dundee, DD1 4LN.
